Can you dig it? Last night I watched the film, Soundtrack for a Revolution, produced by Danny Glover's Louverture films. Imagine an informative and insigtful synopsis of the late sixties civil rights movement, made cogent and real by compelling covers of the signature songs of the day, as done by some of the most popular neo-soul artists of today. Think John Legend, Anthony Hamilton, Wycliff Jean, Joss and Angie Stone, Mary Mary and The Roots.
The mix is powerful stuff, a bone-deep reminder that the work is yet incomplete, and the sacrifices made must not be in vain...
